A great place to work
Idioma Internacional is a unique English-language institute located in a vibrant, business district in San José, Costa Rica. We deliver a full spectrum of customized English communication solutions with an emphasis on supporting businesses and the global business professionals who work within them. Working primarily in English language training along with testing and level placement services, we have become an invaluable language and consulting resource for both national and international companies, as well as individual professionals operating in Costa Rica.
When you work for Idioma Internacional teaching in Costa Rica, you are a member of a motivated and experienced team. Teachers come from all over the world and from a variety of professional backgrounds, but what they all have in common is their dedication to their work, their enthusiasm, and their desire to help students learn English. In addition to being teammates at work, your fellow teachers at Idioma Internacional will also turn into travel companions, friends to help you explore the city and nightlife, or someone to just have fun during your free time.
Our team and their interests define a lot of the activities and extras we offer, be it a Friday night game night at the office, a movie club going to the cinema together, a night out at the National Theatre for some live art, or even grabbing a cold Imperial at our local watering hole for a happy hour mid-week.
Benefits and Job Requirements
All teachers at Idioma Internacional receive 100% legal working status in Costa Rica. While some companies are satisfied to have their teachers working illegally on tourist visas, we believe in doing things the right way. Teachers will become legal residents of Costa Rica and enjoy the same status and protection that Costa Ricans do under the law. Upon receiving the visa, teachers will not have to leave the country until the completion of their contract, unlike those on a tourist visa who must leave every 90 days. As an added bonus, visas allow its holders to visit many attractions such as national parks and museums and pay the “resident” price which is much cheaper than the foreigner price.
In addition to a work visa, all teachers are covered under the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (Costa Rican Social Security or CCSS).
The CCSS provides all legal workers with medical care and insurance. This means access to general doctors, as well as specialists, surgeons, pharmacies, and laboratory testing. The Caja offers more comprehensive health services than many European and North American countries.
To Costa Ricans, the Caja is not only a fully functional social protection service, but it is also a source of great pride, setting them apart from other countries in the region. Each teacher is assigned a clinic (called EBAIS in Costa Rica) where routine visits and appointments with a general practitioner are made. In case of serious injury or illness, teachers are treated at one of the many hospitals within the Caja system 100% free of charge.
Competitive Pay Scale
All teachers receive a competitive hourly pay for teaching hours and are compensated for travel expenses to and from clients.
In addition to the regular salary, teachers receive an “aguinaldo” in December. The aguinaldo is a Christmas bonus of a month’s salary paid in the first week of December.
Paid Vacations and Holidays
Every teacher is entitled to paid vacation time amongst other Costa Rican employment benefits and we provide paid vacation days for every national holiday.
Offices and Equipment
All teachers are issued laptop computers in order to integrate multimedia and technology into their lessons at clients and to deliver virtual classes.
We have high-speed Internet, formal boardrooms, classrooms, and a newly remodeled and comfortable workspace for our teachers in our secure main office in San José.
The Company will help Trainers open a bank account with BAC San José with an international Visa/debit card issued and Internet banking option.
Housing Placement Assistance
Idioma Internacional provides housing assistance to all trainers that includes options for a home stay, living with roommates or living alone in an apartment or house.
As a company, we are committed to Social Responsibility and regularly have clothing drives and organize volunteer opportunities to give back to our community in Costa Rica.
